Community Forestry Network

What is the Community Forestry Network?

This program is to equip municipal leaders, activists, and tree stewards with the knowledge and network of people to improve their community's urban forest in a lasting, sustainable way beyond pruning and planting trees. See the Volunteer Position Description for details.

The ultimate goal of the Community Forestry Network (CFN) is for participants to develop tree committees, community forestry budgets, and local tree ordinances and be ready to apply to be a Tree City USA. If your community is already a Tree City USA, you will still benefit from learning how to better engage your community and develop your existing municipal tree care program.

The Community Forestry Network will meet once a month for one hour, but participants will be expected to work beyond meeting times and CCE Onondaga will be available to facilitate engagement outside of monthly programs.

What Will I Do At the Community Forestry Network?

At CFN you will not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.

Each formal meeting will have a guest speaker talking about their area of expertise in urban and community forestry and how it applies to your community. You will then have an opportunity to ask questions and get advice from the speaker.
