The CCE Urban Birds project works with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and local Latino youth to build interest in science through citizen science and creating bird habitat.
In 2012, we worked with Latinos por el Adelanto, el Compromiso y la Excelencia (LACE), The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Nosotros Radio to develop a bird habitat garden. The fifteen Spanish speaking youth built the habitat garden, which included benches and painting a mural, in the Lipe Art Park on the Near-west side of Syracuse. The students also took a field trip to the Cornell University campus and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and spent a day presenting their project to the public at the NYS Fair.
