SYRACUSE, ONONDAGA COUNTY - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County will host a workshop Monday October 16, 2017 that will focus on creatingFarmland Protection Implementation Grant (FPIG) Program site plans. Site plans, which include parcel maps and narratives of explanation, are one of the required components of the NY State Department of Agriculture & Markets (NYSDAM) FPIG application.
The next round of state funding for FPIG Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) program will be announced spring of 2018. To prepare for the call for applications in 2018, NYSDAM will offer a webinar to review site plans. The State is encouraging landowners committed to applying for funding consideration to submit completed site plans to them by November 3, 2017. These plans will then be reviewed for consistency with the Department’s site plan guidance document.
The goal of this Cooperative Extension workshop will be to prepare site plan maps and complete the written narratives of explanation to submit to the State. Given the short timeline, if you are committed to the PDR application process in 2018, it is important that you contact Cornell Cooperative Extension now! You will also need to submit your Tax ID numbers to prepare parcel maps prior to the workshop.
The workshop will be held Monday October 16, 2017 at the New York State Fairgrounds in the Martha Eddy Room in the Art and Home Center Building. Registration begins at 12:30 pm and the workshop runs from 1 pm to 3:30 pm. The cost for the workshop is $10 per person and $15 per family, payable at the door.
Farmland protection is about keeping farmland open and working for future years to come! The FPIG Program application is a lengthy process with many components and site plans are a significant portion of this application. NYSDAM is offering us an educational opportunity to prepare site plans that will be ready for the competitive process of PDR.
