  • Thursday, January 3, 2019, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County will host a workshop Thursday January 3, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., entitled ‘Farmland Protection: An Inside Look at Appraisals and Tax Implications’.

The workshop will be held Thursday January 3, 2019 at the South Onondaga Fire Department, 3130 Cedarvale Road, Nedrow, NY 13120. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. and the program runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $10 per person and $15 per family, payable at the door.

Farmland protection is about keeping farmland open and working for future years to come. The New York State Agriculture and Markets Farmland Protection Implementation Grant Program (FPIG) offers a funding opportunity for landowners through Purchase of Developments Rights. This competitive grants program is made available to assist with the protection of viable agricultural lands that are at risk of conversion to non-farm uses. Funding may be used for those farmland protection implementation activities specified in each grant opportunity.

The FPIG Program is a complex process with many components. At this workshop, we will dig into two important components, appraisals and tax implications, that participants of the FPIG program will encounter.

Please register by contacting Melanie Palmer at (315) 436-3544 or email at mjp232@cornell.eduby Tuesday January 1, 2019.
