Join CCE Onondaga on a Saturday Morning at the Voice of the Farmer Garden, located at the NYS Fairgrounds, on Thursday 10/3/2026 to learn all about fall gardening topics with hands-on, interactive learning.

- 10:00–10:15 — Welcome
- Brief introduction to the Voice of the Farmer Garden
- Explain how the stations will work
- Give everyone a quick overview of the morning
- 10:15–11:30 — Hands-on Garden Stations
- Station 1: Trees & Pruning
- What should be pruned in the fall?
- What should wait?
- Demonstrate proper pruning
- Station 2: Garlic & Fall Planting
- Planting garlic
- What else can still be planted this time of year?
- How deep, spacing, etc.
- Station 3: Garden Tools
- Cleaning and taking care of garden tools
- Sharpening
- Getting tools ready for winter
- Station 4: Extending the Growing Season
- High tunnels
- Cold frames
- What can we grow into the fall and winter?
- Station 5: Nematodes & Milky Spore
- What are nematodes?
- What does milky spore actually do?
- IPM and managing garden pests
- Station 6: Digging the Garden
- Harvesting potatoes and sweet potatoes
- When to dig
- How to harvest without damaging them
- Storage
- 11:30–12:00 — Back to the Garden / Questions
This event is great for Master Gardener Volunteers and the public, so home gardeners are welcome!
