There are a wide range of 4-H events available in normal years. With the COVID emergency, activities are held virtually when possible. Others will take place when circumstances allow.
State Teen Action Representatives Retreat
The State Teen Action Representative Retreat (STARR) is a three-day, fun-filled event where 4-H members participate in a variety of workshops and activities meant to challenge, excite and further develop life skills. The event is planned by teens and adults serving on the youth/adult STARR planning committee and is held at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. STARR is open to all NYS 4-H Teens.
4-H Public Presentations
A program in which youth learn to create a presentation and develop the skills needed to present it before an audience. They learn about the research process and the steps needed to organize information into an interesting and creative presentation. Presentations run from Level I, the 4-H club level to Level IV, which is competition at the state.
Cornell University Equine Hospital Open House
Animal lovers of all ages are invited to attend the annual open house at the College of Veterinary Medicine on a Saturday, in April. The day includes a wide variety of displays, interactive talks and demonstrations, including a petting zoo with baby farm animals, exhibits of exotic pets and wildlife, and a teddy bear emergency room.
Cornell University Career Explorations Conference
For over 90 years, the New York State 4-H Office has hosted the annual Career Explorations Conference on the Cornell Campus. Nearly 500 4-H youth and chaperones attend the action-packed, three-day event to immerse themselves in exploring their future education, career opportunities, and to experience Cornell University and campus life! Cornell faculty and graduate students conduct engaged-learning workshops.
TSC Fall Paper Clover Campaign
Annual fundraiser campaign to create scholarship fund for county 4-H members to attend 4-H camp and leadership events. 4-H members are encouraged to promote this campaign by visiting local Tractor Supply Company and selling paper clover!
